AGC Retro Celebrates 35 Years of Excellence in Helping Lower Member Workers Comp Costs and Maximize Net Premium Refunds

AGC Retro is proudly celebrating 35 years of safety and workers compensation excellence by delivering 50% or more in net individual premium refunds once again. These strong financial returns highlight the shared commitment of AGC members with Retro and Safety staff in elevating workplace safety, optimizing light-duty return-to-work programs, and helping facilitate claim resolution.

Special recognition was given to Van Hardy, 35-year Chair of the Retro Program as the “Founding Father of AGC Retro.” Hardy’s foundational vision helped shape the program from its initial evaluation to its rigorous underwriting standards to his unique performance-based refund allocation,” praised Lauren Gubbe, Program Director. Underwriting includes Safety Team® as a requirement to help ensure plan participants have safety programs that meet or exceed Labor and Industries safety standards. “Hardy’s performance-based refund allocation has stood the test of time and rewards member’s efforts and investments in their company’s safety culture, kept on salary, and light duty efforts either onsite or through the unique AGC Retro light duty centers.”

Gubbe also recognized Safety Director Mandi Horton for her outstanding leadership in mental health advocacy and suicide prevention in construction ‘across the globe and in other industries.’ Horton launched a new peer support group designed exclusively for Safety Directors, creating a dedicated, collaborative space for safety professionals to share resources, discuss challenges, and support one another. Additionally, Horton announced that new supervisor training tools specifically designed to help leadership navigate mental health challenges in the field would be released soon.

AGC Retro is a performance-based industrial insurance incentive program designed to help member companies lower their workers’ compensation costs by improving their workplace safety culture and claim outcomes.
