Firms honored for 2024 Group Retro Performance
Congratulations to AGC Seattle District’s AGCW Group Retro members who received recognition awards at the Seattle/Southern district combined annual retro-refund breakfast meeting. Members were recognized for their excellence in safety and loss control reflected in their experience modification rate (EMR) and cumulative milestone refunds earned. Many members also earned a claims-free premium discount from Labor and Industries (up to 40%) for tracking at least three continuous years without a timeloss or impairment injury case.
AGC Group Retro members celebrated $82,597,811 million in combined refunds for the three years in cycle. “This year over half of our retro participants are earning refunds of 50% or more in each of the three years in cycle with top refunds at 58% on the final year, 56% on the second adjustment year and 55% on our first adjustment year. Results like this reflect the caliber of companies in the plan, our stringent underwriting, each company’s efforts to create a culture of safety top down and bottom up, their upfront investments to keep injured people on salary and offer light-duty along with our hands on help,” said Lauren Gubbe, Retro Program director.

At the meetings, Gubbe gave special recognition to Brian Sorensen of Exxel Pacific for his service and representation on the WISHA/DOSH Labor and Industries (L&I) Advisory Committee. In addition, she gave kudos to Representative Schmidt and L&I’s Tammy Fellin for help in securing most of AGCW’s recommended changes to a bill that goes into effect 1/1/25 that, among other things, increases employer’s Stay at Work reimbursement for half of light-duty wages paid on each claim from “up to 66 days at $10K per claim” to “up to 120 days at $25K per claim.” The bill allows injured workers to participate in expanded skills such as ESL, basic computer literacy, GED certification and more during light-duty and/or vocational retraining. Gubbe advised, “Some of the offerings in the bill, such as GED and basic math, are already available through AGCW light duty centers.”
