Revised (lower) unemployment-insurance tax notices coming soon

Be on the lookout for revised Unemployment Insurance tax notices by the end of the month.  You and your company received a notice in December noting your UI taxes are due in April but, since then, the Legislature passed, and the Governor signed, AGC-backed legislation that will lower most UI tax rates. The Employment Security Department says they will send revised notices toward the end of the month.

The UI legislation, as previously described in this article, addresses the huge UI tax increases that many businesses were set to face due to COVID-related layoffs.  Because most businesses will have a new, lower UI tax bill, ESD urges businesses to hold off making the payments due in April until they receive their revised notice around the end of February/early March.  ESD will also be providing information to businesses that have already paid the UI taxes and are due a rebate.
