Last night, Governor Inslee issued a stay-in-place order for Washington State — Designated Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers — that begins in 48 hours. AGC urges our members to review the entire document. The following paragraphs on page 11 relate to construction. |
• Construction workers who support the construction, operation, inspection and maintenance of construction sites and construction projects (including housing construction) for all essential facilities, services and projects included in this document, and for residential construction related to emergency repairs and projects that ensure structural integrity.
• Workers such as plumbers, electricians, exterminators and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation and essential operation of construction sites and construction projects (including those who support such projects to ensure the availability of needed facilities, transportation, energy and communications; and support to ensure the effective removal, storage and disposal of solid waste and hazardous waste).
Obviously, there are more questions than answers in this document. There are, however, some exemptions currently in place for construction. We are working with the Governor’s office on clarity, as most states have completely exempted construction. We will make that information available to you as it becomes available.
