AGC’s SIR Award is the association’s highest individual honor. SIR Award recipients exemplify values embraced by AGC and have consistently demonstrated outstanding service, industry leadership and involvement in the community during their distinguished careers. The first SIR Award was given to President Dwight D. Eisenhower; the award’s statuette is a depiction of Norman Rockwell’s Spirit of Construction.

Ms. Schiantarelli, a native of San Isidro, Lima, Peru, is principal and owner of Schiantarelli & Associates, a management-consulting firm committed to establishing and expanding relationships that build diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging in our community and state. As a Seattle-based award-winning advocate and champion, Ms. Schiantarelli is a co-founder, incorporator and initial director of Northwest Minority Builders Alliance (NWMBA). Ms. Schiantarelli has been an advocate for business diversity and civil rights for 42 years; holding DEI roles at WSDOT, WA Department of Labor and Industries, Office of Minority & Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE), Seattle Public Utilities, and more. This impressive record of accomplishments in developing, implementing and leading contracting and workforce strategies that create and achieve accessibility and inclusion distinguish her as a leader in the construction industry, and for her community.

In 2023, Ms. Schiantarelli spearheaded the All of Us Alliance, a coalition of minority-contractor advocates educating about the discriminatory effects of project labor agreements and community-workforce agreements. Since 2016, these agreements have become at once more popular for elected officials and more exclusionary to minority-owned businesses in the Pacific Northwest. The coalition’s work could lead to more access to public construction for people of color and their communities all across Washington. Ms. Schiantarelli has raised the bar for what it means to support the workforce, businesses and community in the construction industry. AGC of Washington was honored to have presented the SIR Award to such a deserving recipient.
