Last week local dignitaries helped South Seattle Community College officials officially open a new building for expanded teaching and training programs.
The facility at the Georgetown Campus expands technology and business development training at the Gene J. Colin Education Hall named for the Ferguson Construction CEO and long-time supporter of the college.
Colin who chairs AGCs Government Affairs Council chairs the SSCC Foundation Board and spoke at the September 26 ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Now more than ever before tradesmen and women can say I too went to college thanks to the programs offered at the Georgetown Campus of SSCC.”
The LEED-certified 9800 square-foot addition was designed and built using energy-efficient sustainable and water saving strategies. Funding for the $5.2 million structure came from the Washington State Legislature the U.S. Economic Development Administration and the Norcliffe Foundation. The new space will be a technology training portal for green sustainable jobs and a center for business development and entrepreneurial training.
