Tom Balbo former AGC of Washington President and retired Vice President of Ferguson Construction was appointed to the State Building Code Council by Governor Gregoire. Balbo will represent the Commercial and Industrial General Contractors on the Council.
As a former President of AGC of Washington Tom has many and long-standing relationships with construction professionals keenly interested in the workings of the Council said AGC Government Affairs Director Rick Slunaker in his endorsement letter to Gov. Gregoire. These will be particularly useful in facilitating the two-way communication necessary to assure that the Councils work products are understood and supported by those who will be affected by them.
Tom follows in the past footsteps of Gene Colin CEO of Ferguson Construction who served on the SBCC for three terms and was elected Chair of the Council for two terms.
Commercial contractors once again have a voice on this important council. Contractors who are interested in Building Code Council proceedings or who have suggestions may contact Tom at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The State Building Code Council (SBCC) was created to provide independent analysis and objective advice to the legislature and the Governor’s Office on state building code issues. The SBCC establishes the minimum building mechanical fire plumbing and energy code requirements necessary to promote the health safety and welfare of the people of the state of Washington by reviewing developing and adopting the state building code.
