Seattle Considers Setting Apprenticeship Graduation Rates for Projects

Seattle City Councilmember Sally Clark is considering a proposal to recognize only state-approved apprenticeship programs for public works contracts with the City if they have a completion rate of 60% or greater for the licensed trades – electrical plumbing and elevator workers.

AGC views this proposal as anticompetitive discriminatory and disruptive to the bidding process for both prime contractors and owners. AGC urges you to contact Councilmember Clark 206.284.8802 and let her know your views on this proposal which is not endorsed by the State Apprenticeship Training Council.

For more information contact AGC Seattle District Manager Jerry Dinndorf 206-284-0061.
