With the Building Our Workforce Today theme, the 2020 AGC of Washington Annual Convention kicks-off at 12:00 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
First up is our Government Affairs Committee luncheon, presenting what is being done to educate legislators and influence the development of legislation and regulations. After lunch, attend the annual Business Meeting, meet the new AGC president — Curt Gimmestad of Absher Construction Company — and attend the inauguration ceremony of the 2020 AGC Officer Corps and Board of Trustees.
The afternoon’s 2020 Speaker Series will help you learn about cyber risks and how to protect your company, attract and retain a new generation workforce, and create a culture of happiness within your company where employees are more productive, creative and engaged. You’ll hear from Anna Liotta, award-winning author, speaker and CEO of The Generational Institute; Mark A. Smith of CRC Insurance and Scott Crabtree of Happy Brain Science. This will be a fascinating and enlightening presentation!

Late afternoon, enjoy a drink with old friends and meet new ones during the pre-dinner cocktail party. Then dine with the new AGC president; celebrate as fellow AGC members receive awards for their outstanding service to our industry, and hear our keynote speaker — business coach and author Shawn Van Dyke — leading a panel of industry experts (John Hurd of Lakeside Industries, Salvador Arellanes of Sellen Construction and Sarah Patterson of the AGC Education Foundation) in a discussion about what’s being done to educate our communities about rewarding careers in construction.
Finally, satisfy your sweet tooth with the AGC’s BUILD PAC’s popular Dessert Dash before wrapping-up the night once again with the Ashbaugh Beal Afterparty!
